That’s a hell of a lot.

It starts at $150k in Canada, which I think is a $12k price jump. I dig the car, but I don’t dig it that much.

But it sounds GLORIOUS and is really really comfy (though ingress/egress is a BITCH). I had the chance to ride in one at my wife’s 20th HS reunion, someone showed up in one and when I marveled at it, he was like “wanna go for a ride?”

Where’s Battery Tender when you need him. I know they were charging markups before, then they were discounting them to move them. Are we back to normal pricing yet?

$140,000 base price for a 3 cylinder car. Welcome to the end of the automotive industry.

Say what? I always thought it was like 80,000- which while not cheap by any means puts it at a very tempting price point(for someone with that kind of money).

“$140,000 base price for a 3 cylinder car”
Which can also hit 60 in 4.4 seconds, according to BMW. And is made of carbon fibre. And has electric motors.
Gosh, it’s almost like judging a car solely on engine size is a foolish thing to do!

Don’t mind me, I did my research, it was always a mid-130 grand car. They bumped the price after adding bigger batteries. Apparently they always go for above market value anyway.

I can think of so many cars I would much rather have for the money.

They really are. I need to remember all of those occasions if I ever get something that people want to ride in. Surprisingly very few people want to ride in a 2000 New Beetle, a 2002 Rav4, or a 2012 Mazda3 S GT. LOL.

Spend a little bit more and you get a machine 100x better.

Couldn’t agree more. Though I loathe the term “driver’s car”, the i8 is just not a driver’s car.

And it feels significantly quicker than that, I imagine due to the unfamiliar sensation of electric motor torque. I was quite surprised at the acceleration when I rode in a friend’s i8.
